Instructions:

You'll need just a few basic things from home:
  • toothpicks
  • sponge/rag
  • little dish of water
  • paintbrushes
  • stamps (optional)
A rolling pin and a knife can be useful, just be sure to roll the clay out on a porous surface so that it doesn't stick (canvas, tea towel, bare wood, or thick paper/bristol board).

  • Please read: STUDIO TIPS & SAFETY
  • Use the internet to look up project ideas & technique tutorials! (search ideas: pinch pots, clay slab building, clay coil pot tutorial, score and slip with water)
  • You can paint your project while it is still wet (leather hard is ideal). Please note that the paint in the kit is special clay paint - regular acrylic paint will burn away in the kiln!
  • Keep your finished project wrapped in a plastic bag (not saran wrap). It will be easier to transport while it's still damp, dry clay is as brittle as chalk.
  • Left over paint? Bring it back to the studio so it doesn't go to waste!
